A breastfeeding and milk bath photographer's shoot out at sunset.

Whew! That title sounds like a mouthful doesn't it? Recently I attended a shoot out that was organized by another local photographer in a local photography group here in Jacksonville, NC. I enjoyed it so much that my originally planned session with just one model for a breast feeding and milk bath session turned into a very tiny, little less organized shoot out of my own with other local’s photographers on a private property. Organic and herbal milk baths are all the rage right now, as well as breast feeding sessions. It's funny because something that is so natural that has been around since the dawn of time is coming full circle once again, only now it is being asked to be documented by families everywhere through beautiful portraiture. I couldn't be more thrilled, I nursed my youngest 2 children as I did not have the opportunity with my oldest when he was a baby, so I know what it's like to aid the health of your children in both ways. Despite which choice you have made for your child both are noble causes and a parent should never be ashamed of which ever decision that you make!

I'd love to dispel the thought of nursing being an action that should be done in dark corners or restaurants or away to the stalls of the restroom so that we do not offend those that do not have similar standpoints as ourselves. Whether you choose to openly nurse, or cover yourself, whether you choose to slide out to the side and guard yourself or perhaps you see no reason to be uncomfortable at all, these are your choices. I want all of you to know I support you either way. In the end your baby is growing, your baby's health and comfort is on your mind and with that nothing else should be a care or concern during that time. Mom's do what you do and stand strong in your convictions!

Thank you to all my photographer friends and models for letting myself and others capture the nature of this session in such a beautiful way, you are all wonderful. Enjoy your images and your little babies. Should this post interest you and you would like to capture your own nursing session please contact me as I would be more than happy to capture this ever fleeting time in your life. They are only as little as they are going to be today and tomorrow they will be one day older and one day bigger. Until next time friends. XO Amy Jo

I also want to give a shout out to my friend Hannah at The Faithful Flour Bakery (seen here:) https://www.facebook.com/TheFaithfulFlour?fref=ts for providing such yummy treats such as blackberry cupcakes, beautiful fluffy pastel macaroons, and lactation cookies to our nursing mom's. You did a great job with your delicatessen and there was not a treat left to be had when we wrapped up!
