A whimsical military maternity session.

This is my friend Mrs. A, she had bundled several sessions to include her maternity session, birth, and newborn session. I couldn't have been more happier that she bundled with me after her Christmas family mini's from last year, after all I felt I had really connected with their little family. We had chatted about plans of her hubby possibly being around for her maternity session but wasn't quite sure what the good 'ol Marine Corps had in mind for their family in the near future. As sad as it was that he was not able to be with us in person when her maternity session rolled around, he was still there in spirit and we chatted about how excited she was to have him home for the birth soon thereafter. We decided to implement Mr. A somehow into this session and I think that we came up with a wonderful photo in the end of the three of them together. I asked her if she could have one of her husband's buddies take a few photos of him with a point and shoot and send them to me and later I would manipulate them in photoshop so that he could be included in some sense. And if you look closely you can actually see that he is smiling, it really warms my heart. However I can't help but wonder if he had some apprehensions as to how it may possibly turn out, perhaps that was what the smile was for? We will never know :)

She also wanted a few pictures of items that were dear to her heart, things such as their image of their embryo as they had undergone fertility treatments and it was an arduous and trying process however as you can see their dreams were brought to fruition. She also had several very special bracelets with her that were just as important. You can see her trio of bracelets on one arm this bracelet has a Saint on it, a charm for fertility, and an additional charm with just as much significance. On her other arm she has a bracelet that has a name of one of her husband's friends that is a fallen hero, this bracelet rarely, if ever leaves her or her husbands arms as they both have one.

This session meant a lot to her, them, and me.. I always pour myself into my sessions and try my utmost very best to create a uniqueness that defines my style, art and maintaining my clients/friends characteristics. Her floral crown and lace maternity gown was all handmade by yours truly. I also gifted her the letter "E" that you see in one of the portraits for their daughters nursery the day of her maternity session. She told me she was going to hang "The beautiful E" that I had made on her daughters nursery wall along with a canvas that I am helping to custom design for her. We may even complete her bundled session with my unique and organic styled album that I offer in studio after a completed session, this way she can flip back through her images at any given moment and smile and remember that God truly does have a plan for all of us.  Their family may have taken a while to add a new member but it was well worth the wait.

To the A family, thank you for choosing me, thank you for including me, thank you for becoming my new friends and may the light always shine before you and yours. Much love, XO Amy Jo
